THE BEGINNING
MORNING

It's about eleven on a Sunday morning and my girlfriend is getting testy about the fact that I haven't moved and might be in a coma. She plies me with little gifts of coffee and cigarettes in an attempt to lure me from the bed. I am not a morning person. In fact given the opportunity, I'm not really even an afternoon person. But alas, If like me, you consider Sunday to be your vacation, then you can't really spend all of it under the covers (well maybe, but not sleeping anyway). So reluctantly I rise with grunts and moans until I'm fully upright and in a room with no conveniently available bed. This is more or less when I wake up. Now I'm up-and-at-them! Like a tornado, I dress, I brush, I wash, I'm halfway out the door... Hey wait a minute, where's my girlfriend? If it wasn't for her, I'd be halfway to work before I realised it's Sunday.
AFTERNOON

So I've been reorientated towards the relaxed. We've gone shopping for all the required ingredients of a braai and now it's time to start the fire. The rest of the Sunday is spent in a lazy fashion, drinking beer and eating. We have this amazing old stoep at the front of our part of the house. It's huge! With a couple of chairs and an old single bed to lounge in/on. It's west facing so we can watch the sunset while reading the paper. It's the hight of my week and my only wish during this time is always that I could spend the whole week like this, watching the sunset over the city.
