THE BEGINNING
MORNING
It started out as a regular day, no premonitions, no omens, bad or otherwise, nothing to tell that that was going to be the worst day of my life.
That day began like any regular day, breakfast with my kids, getting them off to school and going through the routine of bathing my two year old bundle of naughtiness and all the other insy winsy (oops your vocabulary tends to go this way with a two year old toddler in the house) well, all the other little things that you do with a toddler.
I had everything going the normal way my regular day should go. No cause for alarm really.
AFTERNOON
The afternoon passed on withe a bit of writing and some failed cooking adventures, I learned that too much baking powder does the exact opposite of making your cakes fluffy...mine got mushy.
At around four my husband called saying were having dinner at a friend's house. Imagine my excitement, no cooking for me tonight... We left the house at around five and that when the problem started. I have driven a motorcycle before and I didn't have any problems with it.
We decided to bring separate motorcycles so I could take a friend along, she can ride with me, I told my husband and he said okay. My friend is a 24 year old woman pregnant for 3 months.
She is not used to riding in a motorcycle and she was a bit uncomfortable, I said as along as you stay still we'll be fine. I gave have a step by step account on how to board, stay still, onboard a motorcycle, how hard can that be right?
EVENING
On our way to dinner we saw a dog at the side of the street eating something, she started to panic. It turned out that she was afraid of dogs. The motherly side of me told her that the dog was not even paying any attention to us.
The friend side of me wants to strangle her for having irrational fears and panicking while I'm driving. The motherly side was wrong.
She thought the dog would go away if we blew our horn, so she reached out from behind and pushed the button that gave out a loud hooting sound, which surprised the otherwise nonchalant dog and pushed it to run in panic towards our motorcycle, which caused my friend to jump all over me and pull my hand making us swerve to the right and our front wheel to lock.
We ended up tumbling head over heels some five meters and she landed on top of me, making me bear the brunt of the fall, which was lucky I guess cause she was pregnant. It was December 19, I spent Christmas in a hammock waiting for the wounds to heal...
