THE BEGINNING
MORNING

It was 5:00AM, the sun is just peeking and teasing out of the horizon. I woke up feeling a sense of restlessness and anticipation. Yes, today is the day that I will finally visit one of the best beaches in my country, the famous "Puerto Gallera" located in Mindoro.

By 6:00AM my husband and I are ready to leave. One last check on all our luggages, making sure that the motion sickness pills are there...no use ruining a vacation with seasickness.

It was a two hour drive from Manila to the Batangas Port where we are to catch a ferry that will take us to the the Island of Mindoro, we we're at the port by 7:45 and by this time the sun is already up and showing off bright rays telling of a crisp summer day ahead. We finally boarded the ferry at 8:30 and expected to be in Puerto Gallera by 10:00.
AFTERNOON

The ferry ride was a treat in itself, we saw some dolphins swimming along side our ferry and they we're junping in and out of the water, remind's me of Oceanpark but this show is for free! Whoopie!!

I feel like a child. Having three children you sometimes forget you were once a child too. I finally set foot on the beautiful golden sand sometime before noon (once you board the ferry you seem to forget to look at the clock) I was already having a grand time and I haven't even started swimming yet!

We had lunch at the restaurant of the resort and it was absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant was made entirely of bamboo and even the chairs and tables were of the same material. The food was nothing less than you expect from an island resort, we had crabs, huge tiger prawns and some shellfish that I can't remember the name of but it sure tasted delicious.
EVENING

The after was spent lying on the sand and just getting a tan, I'm a show off, I wanted everyone to see that I had been to the beach and got a tan to show for it. It was a glorious day and it was just the beginning of a three day vacation.

The vacation package was a gift from my husband on our 15th year of being partners, best friends and lovers. Even 15 years of marriage has not dulled our eagerness to be alone together and this vacation is the fruit of our conspiracy to get away for a few days. Those three days are something that we would have fun reminiscing in the next 15 years or so...
