Gazillion Days - Single Day In History (by Rona Oclarit)

MORNING

It was seven o’clock in the morning as I stared at the wall clock. I was awoken by the noise from the neighborhood. I just got a four-hour sleep and I’m sure it will make my day exhausting. I went back to sleep hoping that I could get some more hours of sleep. Alas! I was communing with a surreal world again.

The deafening banging on the door woke me up. It was my sister screaming my name, asking me to open up. I jumped off bed and rushed to the door. She was with my three-year old son. I gave my son a hug and kiss. It was past ten in the morning. There was no food at home. The two had not eaten yet. I requested my sister to rush to a restaurant and get themselves some food and bring some for me too.

The room I rented is bare. All it has are bed, boxes of clothes, and a computer set. Making it bare makes me feel good, sort of a punishment for not having a job yet. Besides, I always believe in a beauty in minimalism.

It’s late for me to get into my job hunt routine.

AFTERNOON

My writing was interrupted by a visitor’s arrival. It was half past one, time to eat lunch. A pack of food was handed to me by my sister. I ate my lunch in a hurry for I couldn’t wait to jump online. I’ve realized that having connected to the internet makes my every day worthwhile. As soon as I finished eating, I headed to my desktop.

Living a jobless life makes me so guilty so I always see to it that I’ll spend time on worthy things. There are too many lessons to learn ad unlearn. I had decided to start learning on the very first software that was installed on my computer. That would be the office suite 2007 since it is mostly needed in my work in the future. I started learning on MS Word 2007. Websites on free tutorial populates my search engines. I started from the very basics.

Microsoft website, www.office.microsoft.com is a very helpful site. It’s very informative. The second favorite free tutorial website is www.baycongroup.com/el0.htm. It is a user-friendly site.

EVENING

My sister's classmates had arrived. They visited my sister for they wanted some help on their undergraduate thesis. As a model student, my sister is always there to lend a hand. I decided to go somewhere else for they have to use my desktop.

What came into my mind was to watch movie in theater and roam around the mall. I though that it would be the best bonding for my son and me. We watched Ironman. It's my son’s first time to watch movie in a movie theater. He was so amazed by it and very attentive to he movie. We roam around the mall and bought a robot toy.

Watching the movie Ironman really influenced my son for grab an ironman robot. We ate and went home at nine o'clock. I sent my son to sleep and did some job hunt online. And now I am jotting down my evening activity. I've realized that writing a day activity seems like self evaluation. The day is perfect for me. I spent it wisely. I learned new lessons and spend time with my son.
