THE BEGINNING
MORNING

A couple of years ago, I remember a unique day while I was interviewing for a job. I had a couple of interviews that day. The morning interview was in downtown.

I woke up early and got prepared as well as I could. I had been trying to change my career path. I was an accountant making a move into the managing business.

I got there in plenty of time, which is usually my biggest concern. I don't like being late as that adds a lot of stress. So, I told the front assistant that I was there for the 9 o'clock interview.

The interviewer was well dressed. We sat in a large conference room. I discussed what I currently do and why I was making the switch. And, as it turns out, he had followed almost the same path.
AFTERNOON

We ended up talking for hours about stuff not related to position. He even asked me to have lunch with him that afternoon, which surprised me a bit. The interview was originally supposed to take an hour. But, including lunch, it took over 4 hours.

By the end of lunch, we were joking about stuff like we were lifelong friends. When I left, I thought this was the best interview I had ever had.

Then, I went home to prepare for the second interview which was at 3pm. I read some information about the company and the position so I could ask my questions later.

This job was a lot closer. It was right in La Jolla and just a couple of lights away from my apartment.
EVENING

I was a little more nervous going into this one. The building was bigger and the parking structure was huge. I remember taking a long walk just to get to the office.

The assistant took me to their interview room. I sat there waiting for the interview to begin. To my surprise, an old friend walked through the door. I had gone to middle school and high school with him. But we went to different colleges and I hadn't seen him since.

We spoke about the position for a while. Then, we chatted it up like the old days. I told him how ironic it was that I would be interviewed by a friend especially after my morning interview.

I've had my fair share of bad interviews. But on this day, I would have the 2 best interviews of my life. I chose to work in La Jolla and with my old friend.

Perhaps, I will write about my bad interviews later. But today I'll remember the good ones.
THE END
