THE BEGINNING
MORNING
I'm not much of a drinker so when my friends wanted to party it up one night, I wasn't prepared for the consequences. It happened after a few of us had done not so well on some exams.
We really wanted to wash away the sins. So, we got together at a friend's apartment where we could crash.
That Friday morning, none of us had classes and I didn't have to go to work. So we each went out separately to pick up alcohol. I just bought some bottles of beer. The others had picked up some stronger stuff.
AFTERNOON
We started with the beer and some junk food. It was relaxing and fun to waste the day away. We watched television and played games. As more people come over, the time seems to go by faster and faster.
Soon, we are playing drinking games with the entire group. Some of the people get excited and start talking louder and louder. Then the music gets started.
As for me, I start feeling the buzz working harder and harder. I can see everything happening in front of me but it takes me a little longer to register things.
The drinking continued non-stop. I have to take a break and sit still for a while.
EVENING
I'm not sure what time it was. But a pair of cops had stopped by while I was resting my eyes. The noise had apparently gotten excessive. So, we had to turn down the music and some of the people left.
When I opened my eyes, I noticed that some of the people couldn't hold down their lunches. And it was starting to smell.
I started feeling dizzy when I walked around. The obnoxious smell, combined with the noise and alcohol, made me lose my lunch too. It had been many years since the last time that happened.
The next thing I know, I wake up lying on the carpet next to the bed. I'm not sure if I made it to the bed and fell out. Or if I just laid down on the floor.
The hangover was also terrible. Whenever I turned my head, I felt a sharp pain.
That was the last time I binged out on alcohol. Now, when I want to vent out on bad exams, I let it out on the tennis court or in the gym.
I've learned my lesson the hard way.
