THE BEGINNING
MORNING
I'm not sure of the exact date. But I remember it was a Thursday in March 2003. There were three of us who wanted to catch an evening concert in Los Angeles and be back for work on Friday.
My co-workers and I got to work early that day. We bought our tickets online a few weeks earlier. So, all we had to do was make sure we got to the show before 7pm.
I had never seen Jewel in concert before. I listened to a few of her songs even before we planned the trip. My co-worker was going to drive and we would take care of buying the gas.
I don't remember much about being at work except that we talked to each other about it during most of the day.
AFTERNOON
We had lunch together to talk over what time we were going to check out. I remember going to buy some snacks and drinks for the ride.
We left work around 4:00pm and immediately got stuck in traffic. It didn't last very long but it was very annoying. Once we got up to full speed, the drive didn't seem to take long. We were talking to each other about childhood dreams and other stuff that got us worked up.
We got there early and was able to find close parking to the auditorium. There were quite a few people hanging out in the lobby. We went to the bathroom and then went to our seats.
Our seats were about 3 levels up looking down on the stage. The seats were quite roomy and were red cloth.
EVENING
I have to admit, I was very impressed with Jewel. She sang the entire performance solo. She even sang a cappella at the end. I'd recommend her concert to anyone.
We ate in Los Angeles before coming back to San Diego. We drove around for a restaurant. After we ate, we got lost for a little bit looking for the freeway.
We drove back to work and said goodnight. I drove home and listened to one of her songs just to compare the difference. They sounded the exact same, which is another reason why I'd recommend her. She doesn't need her voice to be modified at all to sound pure.
