What We Did To Get Gazillion Days Going
Every website needs to be planned and developed. We have been working on Gazillion Days for over half
a year now. We've tried different looks and made changes along the way. It's been a fun and unique
project for everyone involved.
Our idea started after we tried to console a good friend over a lost one. This was at the end
of November, 2007. Four of us were sitting around talking discussing life stories. We were in
a friend's apartment in San Diego at the time. We thought it would be great if we could share
our stories and read about other peoples' stories.
The four of us were close friends in college. We either went to UCSD or San Diego State. A
couple of us are web developers. Another is a database administrator. And, the last is a
manager. We felt that our combined skills would be enough to turn our idea into reality.
Getting started was the difficult part. Who would work on what? And what goals/deadlines should
we set? We split the work as evenly as possible. The developers worked on building the website
including images. The database admin took care of the database. The manager looked for ideas for
the website and did the testing.
We launched the website in April, 2008. We started by adding our own stories to the
website. Then, we started added new features. We added a search page where users can find
what they want to read about. Then, we added the book option. We wanted to give anyone the
ability to print their stories to a hard-bound book.
We want to continue making our website more useful to our users. We plan to add a forum for
users to communicate with each other. We want to add more variety of book covers. We also
have a few other things in the pipeline.
We hope that this is just the beginning of something special. And, we'll keep you informed along the way. Thank you for taking the time to read about our website.
